also this is#my absolute favorite thing about harry potter #and as you all know that is saying something because there are few people i love more than harry potter #is that he is loyal to so many of the wrong things #because he grew up with no one to love him and then people did and he was loyal to what he imagined them to be rather than what they were #because all harry wants in his entire fucking life is to be loved the way he wants to be loved #this is why he idealizes his parents when he knows nothing about them and james is kind of a dick #this is why he doesn’t even let ron get out an apology when he comes back in dh #this is why he names his child after snape #and this is why dumbledore is NEVER portrayed in a particularly negative light in the books even though he should be because dumbledore is kind of a massive dick #because harry is loyal #too loyal #because for eleven years no one loved him #and then suddenly everyone did #and so his guides (dumbledore in particular) become this sort of idealized creatures. even though in the end they are not heroes. they are simply men.
